Microsoft has said in letters to its customers that its Outlook email client has been hacked by Russian-linked hackers who have used it to access the networks of European organizations and companies. This was announced today, March 15, by the American TV channel CNN with reference to the documents of the company that were at his disposal. In them, Microsoft reports that Russian hackers in the period from April to December 2022 used the Outlook vulnerabilities they discovered to access the networks of European organizations.
This was first reported on March 14 by a specialized publication BleepingComputer. It said, citing letters from Microsoft, that the Outlook vulnerability was used by Russian hackers to break into the networks of “less than 15” European government, military, energy and transport organizations and companies. CNN reports that Microsoft received a tip on these hackers from the Ukrainian authorities.
