CNBC: Musk is actively looking for a new CEO for Twitter

American billionaire, owner and head of Twitter, Elon Musk, is actively looking for a person who will take the position of CEO of the company instead of him, informed TV channel CNBC, citing sources.
The channel recalled that Musk publicly stated in November that he expected to reduce the time he devotes to managing Twitter and find a new CEO. On December 17, he wrote on his page that it was necessary to find not just a new CEO, but a CEO who could “keep alive” the company.
On the same day, the billionaire launched a poll on his page on whether he should continue to lead the company. In the description, the businessman promised to “stick to” the voting results. As a result, the majority (57.5%) of the 17.5 million Twitter users who voted spoke out for his departure from this post.
As CNBC highlights, Musk began searching for a new CEO even before he launched this vote. The Washington Post previously warned that the decision to leave the CEO’s position could have already been made before the poll. The publication recalled a similar “referendum” that the billionaire held in the fall of 2021, asking Twitter users whether he should sell 10% of Tesla shares, although the sale, as it turned out later, was already planned. The publication also drew attention to investor dissatisfaction with the fact that Musk pays too much attention to Twitter, which could harm SpaceX, which he leads, and especially Tesla, whose papers fell by 15% last week.
Musk officially became the owner of Twitter on October 27, in a deal valued at $44 billion. In his account, Musk explained the purchase of the social network with a desire to create a platform “where a wide range of beliefs can be discussed in a healthy environment without resorting to violence.” On November 22, the entrepreneur announced that the number of users of the social network reached a record number of 259.4 million people.
