Russia increased chocolate exports from 2017 to 2023 by 40%, to $781 million, said Andrey Kucherov, deputy head of the Agroexport center. Deliveries of sugary products increased by 46% over the same period, and flour confectionery products by 84%.
Confectionery exports mainly cover friendly neighboring countries. Traditional markets are Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan and China. “The greatest growth in exports was achieved in deliveries to Uzbekistan – the volume increased 4.2 times, exports to Kazakhstan doubled, and to Belarus – by 77% in value terms,” said Mr. Kucherov (quoted from TASS).
Agroexport considers Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, the UAE and China to be promising markets. By the end of 2024, supplies of confectionery products to these countries may increase by more than $230 million. The expert also considers the development of exports to Southeast Asia an important area.
