The Chinese pharmaceutical company Hebei Changshan Biochemical Pharmaceutical (CSBIO) may build an enterprise in the Republic of Bashkortostan for the production of heparin, a blood thinning drug used, among other things, for cardiovascular diseases. It is produced mainly from the mucous membrane of pig intestines, so the implementation of such a project was discussed at the Ministry of Agriculture on April 11, two participants in the meeting told Vedomosti. The ministry itself confirmed its holding and the agenda.
CSBIO claims to be China’s leader in heparin production. The drug is exported, as stated on the company’s website, to 30 countries. It manages assets worth 3.5 billion yuan (41.6 billion rubles at the exchange rate on April 14). According to Bloomberg, in 2021, CSBIO’s revenue was 2.9 billion yuan (35.2 billion rubles). The company itself did not respond to Vedomosti’s request.
