China’s Singles’ Day e-commerce sales total nearly $157 billion

The volume of sales on online trading platforms on the occasion of the Singles Day in China reached 1.1 trillion yuan ($156.9 billion), follows from data Chinese consulting company Syntun. She provided figures for sales from October 31 to November 11.
Singles Day is celebrated in China every year on November 11th. The first Alibaba Sale Festival was held in 2009 with 27 merchants.
Syntun statistics analyzed by RIA Novosti show that during the entire sale festival, the total sales volume on electronic platforms reached 934 billion yuan ($131.4 billion), Tmall became the leader with a share of 58.03%, followed by JD. com and “Pindodo”. At the same time, Alibaba has not yet published preliminary sales statistics for this year. The second largest e-commerce company, JD.com, also did not provide its data.
In 2021, the turnover from sales of goods and services on Alibaba Group’s sites reached 540.3 billion yuan (about $76 billion).
Popular among buyers in 2022 were, among other things, mobile phones, digital equipment, clothing, cosmetics, food and drinks, furniture, toys.
