China Eastern Airlines takes delivery of China’s first largest C919 passenger aircraft

Chinese Corporation Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) start deliveries of its C919 aircraft, the first major passenger aircraft manufactured in China. C919 was handed over today, November 9, to the Chinese airline China Eastern Airlines. Its use for commercial flights should begin in the spring.
COMAC has been working on the C919 since 2008. Test flights began in 2017. In September of this year, the Civil Aviation Administration of China gave permission for the flights of the C919, and its mass production began in November. This aircraft with a capacity of 164 passengers, according to COMAC, should become a competitor to the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX. Its flight range reaches 5.5 thousand km. The company has already received more than 1,100 orders for the C919, mostly from Chinese airlines. By 2030, COMAC plans to increase production to 25 aircraft per year.
According to analysts, the demand for aircraft in China will only grow in the coming years. By forecasts Boeing, in the next 20 years, China will need almost 8.5 thousand new aircraft, according to the forecasts of COMAC itself – 9.3 thousand aircraft.
