The state will subsidize the purchase of MS-21 passenger aircraft by Russian airlines. About it informed head of Rostec Sergey Chemezov in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

“The cost of new MS-21s for Aeroflot and other carriers will be significantly lower than the market. This is a conscious step by the state, which wants to reduce the burden on airlines and, consequently, on passengers whose ticket prices include a lease payment,” he said.

According to Chemezov, this step is necessary for the development of domestic air transportation and for airlines to have the opportunity to purchase new equipment. “It is clear that this approach does not work without state support measures, so the state will certainly help the aviation industry partially compensate for the cost of aircraft,” he added.

In 2022, Russian aircraft manufacturers represented by the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec) signed an agreement of intent with Aeroflot for the supply of 339 aircraft. According to the document, “Aeroflot» on a lease basis from 2023 to 2030 will receive 210 MS-21 aircraft, 89 SSJ New aircraft and 40 Tu-214 aircraft. It was noted that the first two SSJs will be handed over to the airline next year, and the delivery of the first MS-21 and Tu-214 is scheduled for 2024.

In September 2022 for the MS-21 aircraft project singled out additional 15 billion rubles. Before that, in January 2019, the government allocated 10.5 billion rubles. for the creation, production and maintenance of these aircraft.
