Chart of the era of scarcity: instead of hits, penitential videos

Winter ends with chanson and pop classics

The winter charts usually show the influence of New Year’s premieres, with which big stars traditionally delight their fans. But this winter, instead of new hits, it is customary to release penitential videos, and for them, just like that, they will require a separate hit parade.

Philip Kirkorov sets an example in this regard. The song about the wrong door, performed in a humorous show, to the melody of the legendary “Five Minutes” from the film “Carnival Night” is another attempt by the king of pop to joke about a not very funny topic. And, apparently, this format is now more important than just songs.

Last year’s pop favorite Anna Asti is not even joking, she has somehow become completely quiet, and her name appears only in the context of a not at all new release on the album chart and in the name of the duet Artik & Asti, which is just increasing its activity. They are still allowed to be artists, and they use this opportunity by releasing fresh material.

Artik & Asti.

Among the meager set of updates in the song chart, two duets can be distinguished: Alsou and Natan, as well as Akulich and Young Platon. The first ones released another version of “I Will Love You,” a hit from the seventies, which was performed at different times by Igor Ivanov, Alexander Serov, VIA “Slivki”, and Dominic Joker. The latter offered their original “Gift”, practicing house rap with a catchy chorus and lines about cars and a penthouse. Both the first and second sounds quite routine, but it’s better to present both tracks as a combo.

It is in this case that a rather funny contrast arises: as if parents and children dressed up and went to the dance. Of course, their dances are still different, but the outfits are almost the same, and there is a clear prospect that Akulich, paired with Platon, who was no longer very young by that time, will suddenly sing Soviet pop classics. This is the fate of local stars, no matter how fashionable they consider themselves in their youth.

I would also like to wish Galibri & Mavik an elegant future, although the duo’s present as a whole is meaningful. Their musical tricks, built according to the old, but quite workable scheme of Sergei Zhukov, do not differ in much variety, but still work. Although “Look at the Sky” is an almost experimental track by the duo’s standards. A slightly slower tempo, a guest vocalist, a clear bridge into chanson (where would it be without this) and already more than seven million video views.

Miyagi & Endgame.

But, of course, they are still far from becoming leaders. “Let’s Run Away” is not a new song, but still capable of reaching peaks. In February, she reached the first place of the song chart, and the video version is close to passing the mark of seventy million views.

Probably too much for a track and video in which not much happens, but, apparently, just right for those who examined and heard some homespun truth in the composition of the group “5 Mornings”. By the way, the beginning of March became much more productive for new products. Let’s hope that the first bright flowers will finally appear in the first spring chart.
