The singer took his first steps as an actor in a TV movie directed by Mona Achache broadcast on TF1.
In Champion, Kendji Girac embodies Zack, a young 24-year-old carpenter, passionate about boxing, who seems to be his skin. But he hides a dark secret. Nobody knows that he is illiterate… The singer, who won “The Voice» in 2014, therefore tries his hand at comedy for the first time in a fictional film where he gives, among other things, the reply to Aurelie Pons and Jean-Michel Tiniveli.

“Zack is someone who wants to get by. He works, he also has a passion: boxing. But his illiteracy blocks him… It was I who suggested the theme of this fiction which highlights a taboo. Many people cannot read or write. Illiteracy concerns 7% of French people. I have friends who are affected by this problem. Myself, I had difficulties before. I settled them by reading a little more or having my messages reread to make sure there was no fault. Little by little, we get there, we are proud, we become independent, we feel free. »

“Dare to talk about it”
“As it was my first fiction, I wanted a real subject so that it could help other people. When I read the script, I found it incredible. Zack goes through difficulties, but he has two encounters that turn his life upside down. The message to convey? It’s daring to talk about it. It’s not that serious, it’s not the end of the world and it’s by talking about it that we’ll be able to get help, simply with sincerity and love. A few associations have contacted us and I will be there to accompany them, now that I have committed to this fight.. »
“I enjoyed this experience”
“I felt ready to launch myself as an actor. I wanted to try. I’ve done so many music videos that I know how to handle myself in front of the camera. I said to myself: “Shooting a fiction, it must still be something! It’s a lot of work but I want to test.” Upstream, I still took acting lessons with a coach, I learned the 90 pages of script because I’m on all the stages. I really wanted to do it well, to learn properly, to be sincere when I was going to carry this message in front of the camera. I liked this experience. Why not renew it? »
“Louane and Julien Doré, two coaches with a big heart”
“I wanted to be a coach again in “The Voice Kids». This is my second season and it was important for me to continue discovering young talents. We are very lucky to be there and to take these children as far as possible. Louane and Julien Dore joined us, Patrick Fiori and myself. They are two very good coaches with a big heart and they are also musically sharp. That’s what the kids need. »

I already have seven or eight songs ready. I am happy with these titles; in addition, quite a few artists worked with me on this occasion. There are nice rides or mood songs to party and have fun“.
