The Central Bank (CB) this year wants to launch payment in stores by face up to a certain amount, said Olga Skorobogatova, First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank. The regulator believes that this payment method will be in high demand.
She said that bioacquiring is planned to be launched with the Center for Biometric Technologies, and the National Payment Card System will also participate in the project. “From the point of view of innovation, this can definitely be extended to the whole country, in all retail chains,” said Ms. Skorobogatova in an interview with RBC TV on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
In November 2022, bankers proposed to reduce the security requirements for equipment and devices used in biometric customer authentication. It was argued that if banks could not provide the necessary level of protection, then payment and passage “on the face” would become impossible until the availability of suitable equipment in terms of quality and price.
Details – in the material “Kommersant” “Biometrics is being simplified”.
