Carrefour asks “each store manager” to “release” volunteer firefighters

“We ask each store and warehouse manager to release our colleagues from their professional obligations who can leave as reinforcements“said the boss on Twitter of the Carrefour group, Alexandre Bompard. The day before, the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin made the same request, calling on employers to release their employees who are “volunteer firefighters, so that they can join their fellow firefighters, anywhere in the territory“.

More than 1,000 firefighters mobilized in Gironde

Furthermore, after the significant resumption of fires in Gironde which have ravaged more than 6,000 hectares since Tuesday, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, announced on Twitter the mobilization of “1000 firefighters” and of “9 water bomber planes and 2 helicoptersadditional. Some 10,000 people were evacuated, including 2,000 in the Landes department. The Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, and the Minister of the Interior are expected in Gironde this Thursday. In total, at least 40,000 hectares have burned in France this year, according to the government.
