Carlsberg Group commented on the change of leadership in Baltika

The Danish Carlsberg Group has lost control over the management and operations of the brewing company Baltika in Russia. About it reported in company.

The press release says that after the decree of the President of Russia dated July 16 on the transfer to state management of the shares belonging to the holding structures in the brewing company, the Carlsberg Group no longer “retains control over management or operations.” They stressed that the change of leadership at the Russian enterprise took place without the knowledge and approval of the holding.

“It is not clear to the Carlsberg Group what impact this event will have on the current operations of the Baltika breweries in Russia, as well as on the current sales process,” the company said.

Earlier it became known that Taimuraz Bolloev, who led the company from 1991 to 2004, was appointed president of Baltika. Industry representatives took Bolloev’s return positively, wrote “Vedomosti”.

By the same Presidential Decree, shares in the Russian subsidiary of Danone, owned by foreign companies, are also transferred to the provisional administration of Russia. The company has changed the head – the Russian structure headed Deputy Chairman of the Government of Chechnya Yakub Zakriev. Lawyers have previously told Vedomosti that the president’s decision cannot be called a “direct nationalization” of the assets of foreign companies, but it could affect their ability to manage business in Russia and lead to disruption of deals with potential buyers.
