Cargo turnover of Russian seaports in 2023 increased by 5% – Kommersant

At the end of 2023, cargo turnover at Russian sea ports increased by 5% year-on-year, to 883.8 million tons. The volume of dry cargo transshipment increased by 10.4%, to 446.9 million tons, Rosmorrechflot reported.
According to him, the highest growth rates were shown by grain, chemical and mineral fertilizers, scrap metal, cargo on ferries, in containers and ro-ro. The indicator of liquid cargo transshipment remained almost unchanged – 436.9 million tons; the highest increase in this subgroup was shown by liquid chemical and food cargo.
The Azov-Black Sea basin remains the leader in terms of indicators. The cargo turnover of its seaports increased by 10.4%, to 291.4 million tons. The volume of dry cargo transshipment increased by 16.1%, to 140.8 million tons, liquid cargo – by 5.6%, to 150.6 million tons.
Cargo turnover of seaports in the Arctic basin decreased by 0.7%, to 97.9 million tons. The volume of dry cargo transshipment there increased by 5.2%, to 31.0 million tons, liquid cargo decreased by 3.2%, to 66.9 million tons.
Cargo turnover of seaports of the Baltic Basin increased by 1.3%, to 248.6 million tons. The volume of dry cargo transshipment increased by 16.6%, to 113.1 million tons, liquid cargo – decreased by 8.8%, to 135.5 million tons.
Cargo turnover of the seaports of the Caspian Basin increased by 29.7%, to 7.8 million tons. Transshipment of dry cargo accounted for 5 million tons (an increase of 1.6 times), liquid cargo – 2.8 million tons (a decrease of 2.3%).
Cargo turnover of the sea ports of the Far Eastern basin increased by 4.5%, to 238.1 million tons. The volume of dry cargo transshipment increased by 1.9%, to 157 million tons, liquid cargo – by 9.8%, to 81.1 million tons.
Government noted growth of cargo turnover in ports of the Azov-Black Sea direction. In this regard, the authorities believe that for effective use the facilities need to be developed. The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said that it is necessary to organize shipping within the designated perimeter.
