The Atran cargo airline will begin operating flights on Soviet An-12 aircraft, reported in the Volga-Dnepr group, which includes the carrier.
“Good news from our partners – the cargo carrier Atran is resuming its flights on the An-12. The first flight took place from the Zhukovsky international airport to Norilsk; the company delivered 12 tons of consumer goods and equipment as part of the northern delivery,” the statement says.
As stated by Atran General Director Dmitry Sorokin, whose words were quoted by the group’s press service, the company plans to provide the northern remote regions with vital cargo and products, as well as build a route network to the cities of Naryan-Mar, Khatanga, Novy Urengoy, Anadyr, etc.
In March of the same year, the Volga-Dnepr press service reported that AirBridgeCargo and Atran had suspended flights due to sanctions against lessors who were prohibited from working with Russian companies, and a statement from the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) about the termination validity period of airworthiness certificates.
After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, the United States, the European Union, Great Britain and other countries imposed sanctions on the Russian aviation industry. Air traffic between Europe and Russia was interrupted, and a ban was imposed on the supply of new aircraft and components for all Western-made aircraft to the Russian Federation, as well as on repair and maintenance services.
