The new Avatar: The Path of Water miles grossed $168 million in the US and over $500 million worldwide. Its director James Cameron has made it clear that he expects to continue the franchise.
He also explained, why simultaneously with the second film he shot the third and fourth. The director did this to avoid problems with the appearance of the inevitably maturing young actors.
The second Avatar starred seven-year-old Trinity Jo-Lee Bliss and 12-year-old Jack Champion. Now they are, respectively, 12 and 18 years old. Cameron stated that the boy “grew like a weed”, and it was clear that he was happy to change a lot. So I had to shoot three films at the same time. Otherwise, it could get the effect of the series “Very strange things.”
“I love this series. But in it, high school students looked like they were 27 years old, ”the director explained.
Film producer Jon Landau also revealed that future films will feature new biomes.
“Each film will introduce viewers to new clans, new cultures on Pandora. Previously introduced characters will remain,” he promised.
