According to him, now Yuri Nikolayevich sent a letter of resignation to the theater. It happened on November 14th. Now Butusov is in Paris and is not going to return to the Russian Federation in the near future.
Yuri Butusov from 2011 to 2018 was the chief director and artistic director of the Lensoviet St. Petersburg Academic Theatre. The main director of the Theater named after Evg. Vakhtangov, he has been since 2018.
In early May 2022, Rimas Tuminas was fired from the post of artistic director of the Vakhtangov Theatre. Shortly before this, the director became a victim of pranksters who interrogated him about his attitude to the events in Ukraine. Later, Tuminas himself stated that the published audio recording with him was edited. However, in mid-May, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an executive order excluding Tuminas from the 2021 government prize winners in the field of culture.
