At the Russian Museum, as part of an exhibition dedicated to the 225th anniversary of Karl Bryullov, the painting “Christ in the Tomb” will be presented to the public for the first time. It was seized from German collector Alexander Pevzner in 2003, when he transported it across the Russian border in the Vyborg region without declaring it.

“An absolute sensation, in addition to the sheer scale of the exhibition, will be “Christ in the Tomb”… people will see it for the first time, it is a sensation of global significance that we will present it at the exhibition,” said the head of the museum, Alla Manilova, during the presentation of exhibition plans at the Ministry of Culture (quote from Interfax).

The exhibition will take place at the Mikhailovsky Castle at the end of 2024. It will feature about 300 works of painting and graphics by the artist.
