“Brother 3,” not related to Balabanov’s duology, did not receive a distribution certificate

The Ministry of Culture did not issue a distribution certificate for Valery Pereverzev’s film “Brother 3,” said Vladislav Pasternak, director of the HHG film distribution company. The exact reason is unknown. “Brother 3” is not related to the duology of Alexei Balabanov; the authors explained the name as “highly artistic provocation.”

“The work of the artist Pereverzev “Brother 3” does not have a rental certificate. The premiere screening on November 18 will not take place. The money for the tickets, naturally, will be returned,” Mr. Pasternak wrote on Facebook (the social network belongs to Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). The director of HHG is involved in the production and promotion of the film.

A few hours before the publication of the post, the authors of the film held a press conference at the National News Service news agency. At the event, nothing was said about the lack of a rental certificate. Although in March, rapper Ptah, who plays in the film, stated that there was an ID. Mr. Pasternak explained to Kholod that the rapper was mistaken. He confused the distribution certificate with the status of national cinema.

The director of HHG said that the Ministry of Justice had previously discovered obscenities in the film, and the authors removed it. “The current claims, in my opinion, are subjective and have no relation to the law,” Mr. Pasternak told Kholod. According to him, it is now being decided whether changes will be made at the request of the Ministry of Culture.

According to the director of HHG, 700 tickets were sold for the premiere in Moscow, in St. Petersburg “they asked for an additional showing,” and in Tambov, where the film was filmed, more than 400 tickets were sold.
