British low-cost airline EasyJet announced, which can purchase 157 A320neo and A321neo aircraft from Airbus for a total amount of about $20 billion. Thus, the airline will double the volume of orders from the European aviation concern. If the proposed transaction is approved by EasyJet shareholders, the British company will receive 315 aircraft from Airbus by 2034, which will replace the A319s. In addition, the low-cost airline is ready, if necessary, to purchase another 100 aircraft from Airbus.
According to EasyJet CEO Johan Lundgren, this agreement with Airbus will “enable the continued modernization and growth of EasyJet’s fleet beyond 2028, while delivering significant benefits including cost efficiency and improved sustainability.”
In addition, EasyJet provided updated guidance for full-year profits. The company expects net profit for the 2023 financial year, which ended on September 31, in the amount of £440-460 million ($542-567 million). In the medium term, the low-cost airline intends to achieve annual profits of more than £1 billion.
