Boris Titov confirms his resignation as business ombudsman

Boris Titov said that he would no longer be able to fulfill the duties of the commissioner under the President of the Russian Federation for the protection of the rights of entrepreneurs. He noted that there are many candidates for the position. According to Mr. Titov, the future ombudsman should have experience in related fields.

“Permissions are over. Today, the baton must be picked up by others. Who is the next ombudsman? The answer to this question is the absolute prerogative of the president,” Mr. Titov answered the question “Interfax”. He will coordinate the work until the appointment of a new Commissioner.

The Ombudsman’s press service explained to the agency that Mr. Titov’s powers ended back in June. June 2, the Vedomosti newspaper, citing its own sources reportedthat his contract will be extended until 2023. The interlocutor of the publication did not specify how the scheme for maintaining the position will be implemented. Mr. Titov took up the post of business ombudsman in 2012. By law, he has the right to be elected for no more than two terms.

Mr. Titov admitted that some of those wishing to become an ombudsman had to be rejected for various reasons. Someone refused on their own, and someone had to say “no” due to inconsistency with the requirements of the position. At the same time, he is sure that the work will suit those who have experience in government structures or in business.

On September 15, it became known that Russian business addressed to the presidential administration with a request to appoint Elina Sidorenko, head of the ZaBusiness.RF platform, to the post of business ombudsman. Mrs. Sidorenko is aware of the promotion of her candidacy for the position of Ombudsman. She sees the reason for this in the efficient operation of the platform. At the end of 2021, 11% of requests received the status of “problem solved”.
