German composer, creator of the group Boney M Frank Farian (real name Franz Reuther) died at the age of 82 at his home in Miami. The BBC reports this with reference to a statement from the musician’s family.
Frank Farian was born in Germany in 1941. In 1961, he created his own group, Frankie Farian und die Schatten, and since 1968 he began performing as a solo artist. In 1976, Mr. Farian created the group Boney M, which also included Liz Mitchell, Marcia Barrett, Maisie Williams and Bobby Farrell.
Boney M gained worldwide fame thanks to the songs of Daddy Cool, Ma Baker, Rasputin and Rivers of Babylon. Over 11 years of stage activity, the performers have sold about 200 million copies of tracks worldwide.
