Boeing to cut 737 Max deliveries due to component issues

Today, April 13, the American aerospace corporation Boeing reportedthat deliveries of 737 Max aircraft will be “substantially” reduced in the near future due to problems with components. This is due to the fact that one of Boeing’s suppliers, Spirit AeroSystems, informed her about the substandard installation of several attachment points in the rear fuselage. At the same time, Boeing noted that this problem does not threaten flight safety.
Spirit reported the issue to Boeing on Wednesday, but it’s unclear how many planes are affected in total, as the issue has been going on since 2019. Boeing previously said it plans to ramp up deliveries of the 737 Max to 400 in 2023, it’s not known if the issue will impact the company’s plans. Spirit said they are working on a fix for the problem. It affects some aircraft both in production and ready for delivery.
At the same time, as Boeing said, the aircraft that are already in operation will continue to work. Boeing informed the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) about the problem, the regulator confirmed that this problem does not pose a threat to flight safety.
Boeing shares were down 5.3% and Spirit shares were down 11.8%.
