Boeing raises forecasts for aircraft production until 2042 – Kommersant

Given the recovery of international and domestic air travel after the pandemic, as well as the growth in demand for narrow-body aircraft, Boeing has revised forecasts relative to global aircraft demand over the next 20 years. The company estimates that by 2042, global air carriers will need 42,595 aircraft to operate successfully. In a previous forecast, Boeing named 41,170 aircraft.

Boeing estimates that more than 40% of demand for new aircraft through 2042 will be in the Asia-Pacific region, and China will need half of that. North America and Europe each account for 20% of global demand. More than 75% of deliveries of new aircraft by 2042 will fall on narrow-body aircraft, which is over 32,000. At the same time, in 2042, more than 40% of the entire fleet of narrow-body aircraft will use low-air aircraft — an increase of 10% over 20 years. The Russian market in Boeing’s forecasts is not evaluated separately, given the situation: together with Central Asia, it is included in the Eurasia region. This region will account for 3% of the global fleet by 2042. The volume of the commercial services market in air transportation will be $3.8 trillion. Boeing expects its global fleet to almost double by 2042, from 24,500 aircraft in 2022 to 48,600 aircraft.

A few days earlier, Boeing’s main competitor, Airbus, also made forecasts for the aircraft and air travel market for a 20-year period. The European manufacturer estimates that 40,850 aircraft will be delivered globally by 2042, which is also an increase in Airbus’ previous forecast. At the same time, 80% of new aircraft will be narrow-body, according to Airbus. Airbus estimates that the global fleet will grow to 46,560 aircraft.
