Bloomberg: Trader Trafigura sells Russian fuel to Ecuador
[ad_1]
International trader Trafigura Group helps with sales of Russian diesel fuel to Latin America, reports Bloomberg with reference to sources. According to them, the trader chartered the Marlin Aventurine to deliver 262,000 barrels of fuel to Ecuador’s state oil company Petroecuador.
The Marlin Aventurine was loaded in the Russian port of Taman and arrived in Ecuador last week. According to Bloomberg, Marlin Aventurine is transporting diesel fuel that can be used to generate electricity, refuel ships and as a thinner for fuel oil, one of Ecuador’s main exports.
Petroecuador, which usually buys fuel from US refineries, said that there was a shortage of petroleum products in Ecuador. At the same time, the company warned traders that they could not provide a letter of credit for oil of Russian origin, and “the trader must take this risk.” This means that even Ecuador’s central bank cannot guarantee payment if Petroecuador backs out of the deal, Bloomberg explains.
A spokesman for Trafigura said the company “does not comment on individual shipments” and continues to comply with European sanctions.
In March Trafigura froze investments in Russia. In April the trader announced termination of purchases of energy resources from Rosneft. In July Trafigura announced about withdrawing from the Vostok Oil project.
Details – in the material “Kommersant” “Trafigura left Vostok Oil”.
