Bloomberg: Gazprom to cut gas supplies to French company Engie

Russian “Gazprom» notified the French energy company Engie of a reduction in gas supplies due to a disagreement on some contracts, informs Bloomberg.

Engie noted that they have provided all the necessary volumes of gas for the company itself and its customers, and have also taken a number of measures that will help reduce the financial or physical consequences of a possible cessation of gas supplies from Gazprom. In addition, Engie noted that Gazprom had already significantly reduced gas supplies after the start of the special operation in Ukraine.

“With gas storage facilities over 90% full, France should have enough fuel to get through a winter with average temperatures,” Engie executive vice president Claire Weissand said, adding that the situation could be tense during a possible cold snap.

As of August 27, EU reserves are filled at 79.4% compared to the target of 80% by November 1, Bloomberg wrote, citing data Gas Infrastructure Europe.

In Europe, high gas prices are fixed, which is due to the threat of a crisis with the supply of this energy resource. Previously “Gazprom” announced that on August 31 it would stop the operation of the last Nord Stream gas compressor turbine for scheduled work, in the absence of technical malfunctions, pumping would be resumed on September 2 to the current 20% of the planned volume of 167 million cubic meters. m per day, that is, no more than 33 million cubic meters will flow through the pipeline. m of gas every day.

Against the backdrop of this news, stock prices for gas began to rise. After a slight drop to $3,000 per thousand cubic meters, the price of the nearest, September, futures on the TTF hub today exceeded $3,500 per thousand cubic meters for the first time since March 8, when the record was set – the price of the April futures approached $3,900.
