Bloomberg: Apple triples iPhone production in India

The American company Apple tripled the production of its iPhone smartphones in India in a year, to more than $7 billion. About this reported Bloomberg agency.
About 7% of the iPhone is produced in India at the end of 2022-2023 financial years, follows from the data of the agency – for comparison, in 2021 the share of production at Indian enterprises was only 1%.
The increase in production is connected with Apple’s plans to reduce dependence on China – most of the production of American smartphones falls on this country. Apple makes such decisions against the backdrop of tensions between Washington and Beijing, Bloomberg notes.
As early as next week, the head of the American company, Tim Cook, plans to visit India to open the first official Apple stores in New Delhi and Mumbai and, together with the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, discuss intentions to increase production in the country.
Previously, Nikkei Asia magazine, citing sources informedthat Apple is in talks with suppliers to produce MacBook components and modules in Thailand as the company continues to expand its production outside of China. The interlocutors of the publication noted that the company has been mass-producing Apple Watch in Thailand for more than a year.
