Bloomberg: Apple to step down as VP of Industrial Design

According to the agency Bloomberg citing its own sources, Apple intends to abolish the position of vice president of industrial design after Evans Hankey leaves it in a few months. Instead, a whole group of specialists, consisting of about 20 industrial designers, who will report directly to Apple COO Jeff Williams, will be responsible for product design.
Apple declined to comment on this information.
Evans Hankey has been Apple’s vice president of industrial design since 2019, when Jonathan Ive left the company. He worked for Apple for more than 30 years, and it was he who designed all the iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac, MacBook and MacBook Pro released during this time. In 2019, Mr. Ive left Apple to found LoveForm, whose first client was Apple, while Jonathan Ive himself advised the corporation. In the middle of last year, Apple completely stopped working with the British designer. At the same time, about 15 leading designers who once worked under the leadership of Mr. Quince left the company in recent years. Many of them switched to LoveForm. Ms. Hankey intends to leave Apple in March.
