61 individuals and companies from Russia and Belarus have filed lawsuits with the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg to challenge European Union (EU) sanctions, reports Bild am Sonntag. They are on the sanctions list for supporting the military operation in Ukraine.
According to the publication, the lawsuits were filed, in particular, by the owner of the ESN group of companies Grigory Berezkin, executive vice president of AFK Sistema Sergey Mndoyants, co-owner of NOVATEK and SIBUR Gennady Timchenko, co-founder of Alfa Group and LetterOne holding Mikhail Fridman, businessmen Roman Abramovich , Alisher Usmanov.
EU this week agreed the ninth package of sanctions against Russia. It affected 141 individuals and 49 legal entities. The restrictions, in particular, included the parties LDPR, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, A Just Russia and New People, as well as director Nikita Mikhalkov, performer Grigory Leps and Chairman of the Constitutional Court Valery Zorkin.
