Bikovich will not play the Russian yogi: the actor left the HBO project “amid controversy”

An information campaign is being waged against the star of “Duhless 2” and “Sunstroke”

36-year-old Serbian actor Milos Bikovich has been actively acting in Russian cinema for more than ten years, starting with Sunstroke by Nikita Mikhalkov. Three years ago he received Russian citizenship. On February 2, it became known that he had to leave the project of the American company HBO “White Lotus,” as he himself stated, “amid controversy.”

Milos Bikovich starred in the films “Duhless 2”, “Slave”, “Balkan Frontier”, “The Chicks”, “Challenge”, played the main role in the TV series “Magomayev”. Now it is announced in three Russian projects at once. But a Western career is a definite milestone for any artist. Milos was invited to the HBO project “White Lotus” for a small role as a Russian yogi in the third part of the series, which was written about a lot. However, at the request of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, relations with the NVO were terminated. The series will be reworked after his departure.

Bikovich himself commented on the situation as follows: “Now that a targeted information campaign is being waged against me, external circumstances are beginning to influence creative decisions, which creates an alarming precedent that displaces the essence of creative freedom.” The actor also stated that he could not act in the series “for reasons beyond creativity,” and about his unwillingness to give up his principles.

In 2014, Milos Bikovich came to the Moscow International Film Festival to present the Serbian film “See you in Montevideo!” Nikita Mikhalkov drew attention to him and invited him to his new film “Sunstroke” based on the prose of Ivan Bunin. They say that Mikhalkov, among other things, was impressed by the fact that his elder brother Miloš served in Serbia as abbot in the 15th-century Jovanja monastery. Both brothers were in love with Russia from an early age, and their mother instilled this love in them.

Over the past ten years, Bikovich has continued to act in Serbian films. He is also busy with structural changes in Serbian cinema, producing TV series there and opening an animation film production company together with Italian colleagues.
