Sergei Bezrukov has already developed a reputation as an actor who can play any historical character, and directors regularly offer him such roles. The other day in Moscow began shooting a series about the famous Russian lawyer Fyodor Plevako. You know who plays it.
The actor stands among the extras, dressed in cast-offs that the poorest residents of pre-revolutionary Moscow could afford. Bezrukov’s character looks much more respectable. He’s wearing trousers, a vest, and an obviously expensive shirt. True, the intentions of the hero of the film are not at all respectable – he intends to take part in fisticuffs with bandits from Khitrovka.
In the new series, the theater and film star transforms into the famous lawyer Fyodor Plevako, who was a person with a very wide range of interests. He also appeared in the secular circles of the capital, was familiar with the philanthropist Savva Morozov, and at the same time communicated with the dregs of society.
And Plevako was considered a truly stellar lawyer, who was sometimes called the “Moscow Chrysostom”. The newspapers where his speeches were published were sold out like hot cakes, and sometimes they went to the lawyer’s speeches in court like a theater, and among the “spectators” were Chaliapin and Stanislavsky. However, Plevako was loved not only for his oratorical talent and lawyer’s acumen. Unlike many of his colleagues, Fedor Nikiforovich came from the common people, he perfectly understood the problems of people without money and a high position, and enjoyed great respect among them.
The series is set in 1880. After the liberal judicial reform of Alexander II, the courts became open, and the accused received the right to defense. As a result, lawyers appeared, many of whom became very famous people. However, the glory of Plevako did not mean that the lawyer did not risk anything. One of the cases will be very dangerous for the protagonist.
This series can be called a family one to some extent. In the director’s chair, Anna Matison is the wife of Sergei Bezrukov, and this is not the first project that they are doing together. Apparently, on the site, as well as at home, they have a complete mutual understanding.
