Deputy Minister of Health, Chief Sanitary Doctor of Belarus Alexander Tarasenko signed resolution on a ban on the import into the country and sale of products from the Armenian Ararat Brandy Factory. The document dated March 19 states that the decision was made in connection with the discovery of the synthetic dye azorubine in one of the wines produced by the plant.

“In connection with the identification of non-compliance of food products produced by Ararat Brandy Factory LLC with the requirements of the technical regulations of the customs union “On the safety of food products”, “Food products in terms of their labeling” in terms of providing reliable information about the composition of products, I decide to prohibit import into the territory of the Republic of Belarus , sale, storage, transportation, use of food products produced by Ararat Brandy Factory,” the document says.

This decision, as stated in the resolution, was made due to the identification of inconsistencies in the information provided by the plant about the composition of the products. Based on the results of the examination, it was established that the low-alcohol pomegranate wine “Ayrum” contains the synthetic dye azorubine in an amount indicating signs of falsification of this food product. In accordance with the resolution, all products of the Ararat Brandy Factory on the territory of Belarus must be withdrawn from trade and disposed of.

“Ararat Brandy Factory” is located in the Ararat region of Armenia. The plant produces cognac, wine, vodka, whiskey and flavored alcoholic drinks.
