Beer production in Russia increased by 2.7% in the first half of the year

In the first two quarters of 2022, 410 million decaliters of beer were produced in Russia, which is 2.7% more than in the same period last year, informs Interfax with reference to the data of the Association of Beer Producers (APP). This volume has become a record for the last seven years.
AMS calculations are based on data from Rosalkogolregulirovanie, Rosstat and the Federal Treasury. Despite the increase in production, beer sales in the country for the reporting period fell by 1.4% year-on-year to 356.6 million deciliters. In January-March, about 162.5 million decaliters of beer were sold, but thanks to the May holidays in April-June, 194.1 million deciliters were already sold.
The most difficult period for the brewing industry was March and April, as supply chains were disrupted after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine and the ruble was subjected to high volatility. “But the largest market players demonstrated good anti-crisis management skills, did not give in to panic and looked for new opportunities even in such a difficult situation,” said Vyacheslav Mamontov, executive director of the AMS.
Also, excise taxes on beer turnover increased by 2.4% year-on-year and reached RUB 69.9 billion. In June, the average cost of a liter of beer was just over 165 rubles, which is 13% more than a year earlier.
July 27 became knownthat the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT) and the APP, which unites Heineken, AB InBev Efes and Baltika, agreed to start digital labeling of beer products from April 1, 2023. The experiment on digital labeling of beer began in April this year and will last until August 31st. It is attended by companies that are members of the AMS.
