The increasing carrying capacity of the Eastern range is not fully utilized – in 2023, with a nominal capacity of 173 million tons, 150.5 million tons were actually transported. According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Transport, the situation will continue in 2024, by the end of which the carrying capacity will reach 180 million tons, and the actual export of goods will be only 161.7 million tons. Among the reasons for this discrepancy are emergencies and terrorist attacks, the need to pass mobilization cargo, lack of traction, construction windows, freezing of coal and other factors. But Kommersant’s interlocutors in the industry consider the most significant deterioration in technological discipline in networks and traffic control systems.
