The Baltika brewing company filed lawsuits to terminate the protection of several trademarks that belong to the Krasnodar winery Panagia and the German alcohol brand Jägermeister. This should from the case file.
Court materials report that in the lawsuit against Panagia, Baltika asks to terminate the rights to the Lavbeer trademark. The Jägermeister brewing company wants to revoke the protection of the logo with a deer and a cross over its antlers. Lawsuit against Krasnodar winery accepted into production, and the statement about the logo of the German company was left without movement. Baltika declined to comment.
Previously, the brewing company was denied registration of trademark protection for Brew Moose beer, which is produced by AR Sea Brew (formerly owned by the Danish holding Carlsberg). The beer’s logo features a moose. The refusal may be due to the similarity of the idea with the Jägermeister logo.
Baltika also produces LAV brand beer. This brand is on the list of brands that the company must abandon by April 1, 2024 due to the termination of the license agreement for use by Carlsberg.
Carlsberg terminated the agreement with Baltika on the production and sale of products under the group’s international and regional brands on October 3. Experts interviewed by Vedomosti previously reported that the Russian brewing company will no longer be able to use the Tuborg, Kronenbourg, Seth & Riley’s Garage, Holsten and LAV brands.
