Azur Air has almost a third of its fleet under repair

Russia’s largest charter airline, Azur Air, operates only 14 of the 22 aircraft in its fleet. Deputy General Director for Production of the airline, Andrei Mukanin, spoke about this on October 26 at a meeting with journalists. “Now we proceed from the fact that we operate a fleet of Boeing 757 and Boeing 767 – that’s 14 aircraft. We plan to continue to operate. If everything works out the way we want, the fleet will increase,” he noted.
Vedomosti’s source at Azur Air claims that unused aircraft are now “under maintenance.” The source clarified that four of the 14 aircraft in use are owned by the carrier, the remaining 10 belong to Russian lessors. The eight unused aircraft belong to foreign lessors and Azur Air cannot use them on international flights. According to Mukanin, the airline continues negotiations on the purchase of aircraft from foreign owners.
