Azimut Hotels intends to leave the European market

The Russian hotel chain Azimut Hotels plans to completely stop business in Europe within a year, said RBC representative of Gleden Invest, which manages the assets of the founder of the network, Alexander Klyachin.
Azimut Hotels has been operating since 2006, now it manages almost 70 hotels and resorts with a total stock of about 12,000 rooms. The network estimated its revenue at the end of 2022 at 19 billion rubles, which is 35.7% more year-on-year.
According to information on site The company left three Azimut hotels in Europe – in the German cities of Dresden, Erding and Nuremberg. Last year, the company also owned hotels in Berlin, Cologne, Munich and Vienna, the newspaper reports, but now they have changed their names from Azimut to acom-Hotel. Gleden Invest said that this brand is not related to the company.
The press service of Azimut confirmed to RBC that the company has terminated management agreements with several European hotels.
At the same time, the representative of Gleden Invest emphasized that Azimut remains an international company. In particular, the chain plans to open two new hotels in Israel, and is also working on projects in the CIS countries and Russia.
Gleden Invest did not name the reason for leaving the European market, saying that the termination or conclusion of management agreements is a constant practice of any management company. The company representative added that in 2023 Azimut opened two new hotels – in Yasnaya Polyana and Moscow.
In October Azimut re-registered from Luxembourg to a special administrative region on the territory of Oktyabrsky Island (Kaliningrad Region). In January “Kommersant” figured outthat the company of Alexander Klyachin can build new hotels in Kabardino-Balkaria, Karelia and Altai, investing more than 10 billion rubles in total.
