Azerbaijan plans to double the export of natural gas to Europe, President Ilham Aliyev said. He recalled that the capacity of the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP) is 16 billion cubic meters. m.

In mid-July, Ilham Aliyev and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen signed memorandum on energy cooperation in Baku. Among other things, the document talked about doubling the capacity of the Southern Gas Corridor.
According to Ms. von der Leyen, the agreement will help compensate for disruptions in Russian gas supplies and significantly improve the security of supplies to Europe. A doubling of Azerbaijani gas imports is expected by 2027, it was reported then.
