Avtozavod St. Petersburg, a subsidiary of AvtoVAZ, has begun production of cars under the XCITE brand, the company’s press service reported.
The company will reveal details about the new model at the end of February. The start of sales is scheduled for spring 2024. The report notes that the plant has produced the first batch of several thousand cars and continues to accumulate stock in the warehouse. “XCITE is the first in-house project in the new history of the automobile plant. According to the medium-term development plan of Avtozavod St. Petersburg, production of a number of models will be launched at the enterprise’s facilities in close cooperation with international partners,” the statement says.
The emblem of the new brand is made in the form of the Latin letter X, placed in an oval. The brand name is derived from the English verb “to excite” – “to excite”. The color scheme that will be used for dealership décor and other promotional materials will be yellow and green.
In January of this year, AvtoVAZ President Maxim Sokolov announced that in the spring of 2024 the company will introduce cars under a new brand. To this end, at the beginning of the year, Avtozavod St. Petersburg registered a trademark with Rospatent.
According to auto experts, the cars produced by Avtozavod St. Petersburg are produced in partnership with the Chinese manufacturer Chery. Telegram channel “Autostream” reported that the company agreed to a partnership with AvtoVAZ on non-disclosure terms. According to the channel, Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is assembled at the plant, but without identification marks.
Avtozavod St. Petersburg is an enterprise that produced Nissan cars until March 2022. The production capacity of the site is 100 thousand cars per year. Before production stopped, it produced Nissan X-Trail, Murano and Qashqai crossovers. According to AvtoVAZ Vice President Dmitry Kostromin, the brand will be represented in the compact and mid-size segments C and D.
