Avtodom acquired the Russian Mercedes plant in the Moscow region

The Avtodom dealer group completed a deal to buy the Russian business of the German automaker Mercedes-Benz, including a plant in the Moscow region. This was reported Interfax with reference to the data of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.
Avtodom became the owner of a 100% stake in the Russian legal entities Mercedes-Benz MBMR and OOO Mercedes-Benz Capital Rus on April 18. There is no data yet in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities that Avtodom has gained control over other Mercedes-Benz assets in Russia, Interfax notes.
At the end of November 2022, Mercedes officially announced its withdrawal from the Russian market and announced plans to sell its assets in the country to Avtodom. The amount of the deal was not disclosed. Avtodom reported that as part of the deal, Mercedes received an option to buy back the Russian business at a market price.
In August last year, Avtodom reported on negotiations with Chinese automakers on the subject of exclusive distribution of new brands in Russia. Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov saidthat the Mercedes plant near Moscow is likely to produce cars.
