Stocks of ibuprofen in children’s dosage in the form of a suspension (syrup) in Russia exceed the six-month requirement, Roszdravnadzor said. This is how the department reacted to reports of the absence of the drug in the form of suppositories (candles). Roszdravnadzor in a press release did not comment on the shortage of candles.
“There are enough ibuprofen preparations in the pediatric dosage in the form of an oral suspension on the market,” the agency said in a statement (quoted from “Interfax”). It is alleged that in 2022 the introduction of such drugs from different manufacturers into the civil circulation exceeded the figure for 2021 and amounted to 17.5 million packages.
Marina Galitskaya, a pediatrician at the National Research Center for Children’s Health of the Ministry of Health of Russia, drew attention to the fact that pharmacies have ibuprofen in combination with paracetamol in the form of soluble effervescent tablets. They can be taken by children from two years of age. “There are a large number of drugs on the market with these active ingredients in different dosage forms that have the same therapeutic effect. There is no shortage of them,” added Ms. Galitskaya.
On the shortage of ibuprofen in the form of suppositories in Moscow pharmacies informed newspaper “Vedomosti”. The journalists checked the information on the websites of large pharmacy chains, aggregators and drug discovery services.
