The Ministry of Economy proposed to consider introducing a ban on advertising aggregators and the sale of tourist accommodation that has not passed the mandatory classification. According to the source RBCthe initiative was proposed at a strategic session on tourism development on August 29 by hoteliers and the Russian Union of Tourism Industry.
The materials cited by RBC speak of “mandatory classification of all types of accommodation facilities with an increase in its efficiency”, as well as “a ban on advertising and sale by aggregators of unclassified accommodation facilities”.
The classification of tourist accommodation involves the assignment of “stars” in accordance with the condition of the rooms, the assessment of staff and service. From January 1, 2022, according to amendments to the law “On the Fundamentals of Tourism Activities”, all hotels must undergo classification. However, it does not regulate the operation of other types of tourist accommodation, including guest houses and mini-hotels.
