Director General of Avrora Airlines Konstantin Sukhorebrik responded to the results of the audit of the Accounts Chamber. Office discovered extra subsidies in the amount of 1.5 billion rubles allocated to this company. According to the CEO, out of 36 routes in 2022, Aurora failed to open only two.
As Konstantin Sukhorebrik told RBC, two routes could not be launched due to technical reasons. The route Ulan-Ude – Aginskoye – due to the unrepaired runway in Aginsk, the flight Komsomolsk-on-Amur – Krasnoyarsk – due to the refusal of the Komsomol airport to serve the flight. The director general noted that the Ministry of Transport was informed about this situation.
How said in the analysis of the Accounts Chamber, Aurora received money for flights from Krasnoyarsk, which is not formally included in the support program. According to Mr. Sukhorebrik, Krasnoyarsk has become an important aviation hub, which contributes to the implementation of the government’s program to develop air transportation along routes that bypass Moscow.
The Accounts Chamber also noted that the cost of some flights exceeded the actual cost. According to the CEO of Aurora, it is important to take into account that the terms of the transportation contract were formed at the end of 2021. During the execution of the contract, the replacement of aircraft types was provided – this allows the airline to be flexible in case of failures. Therefore, as Kirill Sukhorebrik explained, the cost of performing flights deviated not only to a higher, but also to a lower cost.
In 2022, the Federal Air Transport Agency allocated 5.9 billion rubles to Aurora for the program on 36 routes. The audit of the Accounts Chamber shows that a “significant number” of subsidized flights are not operated due to a lack of infrastructure at airports and a shortage of aircraft. Aurora’s only rival was the Irkutsk company Angara, which did not receive subsidies.
How the Accounts Chamber found extra subsidies from the company – in the material “Idle payments” Aurora “”.
