Atomic Heart game will be sold in the CIS only in the store from VK

The PC version of the adventure shooter Atomic Heart, developed by the Russian studio Mundfish, will be distributed in Russia and other CIS countries exclusively on the VK Play site, Kommersant was told in VK. Initially, it was assumed that the version of the game for computers would be distributed in the Steam store, but due to the military operation in Ukraine, the work of the site in Russia was disrupted.
VK Play for the first time announced the acquisition of exclusive rights to distribute a high-budget game. The terms under which the company obtained the rights to distribute Atomic Heart in the CIS were not disclosed. It is planned that the game will go on sale in the winter.
Atomic Heart is being developed for both PC and PlayStation 4 and 5 and Xbox One and Series X/S game consoles. Russia was the only CIS country in which it was possible to download games to these consoles from a regional store. Now the Russian game stores on the PlayStation and Xbox are not available.
VK Play was launched in April. By that time, the company already had its own stores of games and in-game items operating under the MY.Games brand, while VK Play positioned as a “solution for the Russian market”. As a result of the military operation in Ukraine, Russian game developers have faced problems in terms of game distribution and cooperation with international companies. In the second quarter, VK’s profit (excluding VK Play) from developing, distributing and streaming games fell by 82%.
