ANALYSIS – The party wants to give an image of maturity by organizing a “healthy competition” between two sailors.

The successor of Marine Le Pen at the head of the National Rally (RN) will only be revealed next November 5 after the vote of the militants. And, if the official campaign has not yet started – it will begin on September 19, after publication of the final list of candidates – the two contenders, the MEP Jordan Bardellaalready interim president, and the powerful mayor of Perpignan, Louis Aliotare already preparing to fight the battle.

For now, everyone is counting their troops. “We are in the phase of gathering sponsorships”, explains Xavier Baudry, loyal to Louis Aliot and deputy mayor of Perpignan, who claims to be confident in collecting support. No worries on the Bardella side either: “We will have the sponsorships”, we say in the camp of the elected 26-year-old. The two candidates must bring together 20% of the elected members of the national council – the Parliament of the RN – or 76 signatures, in order to be able to present themselves at the head of the movement.
