Taiwanese computer manufacturer Asus has filed two applications for inclusion of its products in the register of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). It is reported Vedomosti with reference to the register of notifications on the characteristics of encryption (cryptographic) means and goods containing them. Thanks to this registration, it is possible to import goods into the single economic zone and sell them in the EAEU countries. The representative of Asus in the CIS declined to comment.
According to Vedomosti, the applications were submitted by the company on July 26 and November 11, their validity period is until 2027. The first includes products that have already been sold in Russia, in particular, video cards with Nvidia 30-series chips. The second application included new models of Asus Radeon RX 7900XT video cards based on AMD chips. The notification numbers contain the KZ prefix, which means that Asus registers goods for import into Kazakhstan. But the EAEU has a regional principle of exhaustion of rights, so goods sold to Kazakhstan with the consent of the copyright holder can freely circulate in the markets of all EAEU countries.
Asus in March announced the termination of deliveries to Russia against the backdrop of military operations in Ukraine. In July, sales of Asus laptops in the country decreased up to 14% (in pieces). Year-on-year, the share of the Taiwanese manufacturer decreased by 4 percentage points, to 13%. The leaders of sales were the American HP with a share of 21% and Lenovo, which increased its share from 17% to 18%.
On the decline in sales of laptops in Russia – in the material “Kommersant” “Laptops thinned out”.
