The AST publishing house will send a new novel by writer Vladimir Sorokin “Heritage” for examination in connection with complaints from social activists who saw in the book LGBT propaganda and child abuse. January 22 Telegram channel Mash wrote that the Investigative Committee received a request to check the book for LGBT propaganda and child abuse. According to the channel, the appeal was signed by 1.5 thousand writers and “readers who are partial to Russian prose.” Among them is the writer and entrepreneur Olga Uskova, who called the novel “active and talentedly written hardcore pornography.” There were no publications related to the novel on Ms. Uskova’s social networks at the time of writing.
According to description on the website of the AST publishing house, the novel “Legacy” is the final part of the writer’s trilogy about Dr. Garin (the first two parts are “Blizzard” (2010) and “Doctor Garin” (2021). In the new book, Vladimir Sorokin places the main character in a post-apocalyptic world of the future, devastated by the aftermath of nuclear conflict. The ACT website says that The Legacy features the image of an “east-west train” fueled by human bodies. “The victims had nowhere to run and nowhere to hide, and the grim images serve as a poignant reminder of the hopeless emptiness of this world,” says the description of the novel.
