Association of bloggers and agencies asked the Federal Tax Service to look into the leak of tax data

The Association of Bloggers and Agencies (ABA) complained to the Federal Tax Service (FTS) about the leak of a list of 100 Russian stars who are suspected of fraud with the aim of “non-payment or underpayment of taxes.” The mentioned list was published on July 23 by the Telegram channel Mash, which referred to a source in the Federal Tax Service. The Association of Bloggers asks the department to “understand the situation”, reports Forbes.

According to Mash, the list of artists to be verified included, in particular, TV presenters Ksenia Borodina and Olga Buzova, blogger Ida Galich. The channel claimed that some of them had suspended operations on their accounts – for example, Ksenia Borodina LLC blocked the ability to transfer money due to the fact that the information about the office turned out to be inaccurate data. Mash wrote that, “probably, the entire list and the above names are waiting for a thorough scrutiny in the near future,” and “including possible exit ones” are possible.

The ABA demanded that FTS employees “stop leaking confidential information until real violations are revealed and conduct an internal investigation.” The association believes that the tax officer who acted as the source of Mash violated the tax secrecy regime (Article 102 of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation).

In addition, the published information defames the honor and dignity of bloggers and artists, and also discredits them, the ABA said. “Such high-profile statements about the involvement of government departments by Telegram channels and the media exacerbate the situation,” the association’s letter sent to the Federal Tax Service says. The ABA emphasized that such leaks are also unprofitable for the agency itself, since unscrupulous bloggers, after publishing data in the media, can “avoid responsibility by leaving the country.”

The FTS has not yet commented on the information.

This year, several popular bloggers were detained for tax evasion. In March, blogger Valeria Chekalina (Lerchek) was charged with accusation in tax evasion for 311 million rubles, her husband Artem Chekalin – in complicity. In April, the founder of the Marathon of Wishes, Elena Blinovskaya, was detained in April while trying to cross the border of the Russian Federation. In May, her husband Alexei presented charge under Part 5 of Art. 33, part 2 of Art. 198 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (complicity in tax evasion) and paragraph “b” part 4 of Art. 174.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (money laundering).
