The head of the Hermitage proposed limiting access to masterpieces of art. Mikhail Piotrovsky stated this in an interview with RBC. According to him, tourists should be admitted to such famous works as the Mona Lisa in groups so as not to create crowds. As an example of the successful implementation of such a system, the head of the Hermitage cited the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, where Leonardo da Vinci’s fresco “The Last Supper” is kept. According to Piotrovsky, the same limited access will now be to the Alexander Nevsky shrine, which the Hermitage handed over to the Russian Orthodox Church for safekeeping in September. It is still unknown whether the museum itself will introduce group visits.
