Armenia has entered the top five largest importers of whiskey to Russia, displacing Spain, according to a RIA Novosti study of statistical data. According to the agency’s material, in January-September 2023, imports from Armenia amounted to $5.6 million.

Spain dropped from third to seventh place in 2023, supplying 30% less whiskey than in January-September last year. Spain’s imports this year amounted to $3.7 million.

In just nine months of this year, the total amount of whiskey imports amounted to $262.5 million. Latvia accounted for the largest share of imports – $190.6 million, which is six times more compared to the same period in 2022. Lithuania imported $28.9 million worth of whiskey, increasing the 2022 figure ninefold.

The top five major suppliers of the drink also included the UK ($10.4 million, 18% less compared to 2022), France ($7 million), Armenia ($5.6 million, 2.5 times more than last year) .
