Since yesterday, May 1, Arkhangelsk International Airport has been closed for reconstruction until December 2023. Air transportation at this time will be carried out through the Arkhangelsk airfield Vaskovo (Primorsky district).
“In the period from May 1 to November 30, 2023, it is planned to reconstruct the runway of the airfield, which will be carried out under the conditions of the airport closed to receive aircraft,” Arkhangelsk Airport JSC said (quote from Interfax).
According to the data portal public procurement, the reconstruction is carried out by the Monolithic Construction Management-1 JSC near Moscow, the contract value is 8.6 billion rubles. In addition to the reconstruction of the runway with a length of 2.5 thousand meters, taxiways, a water waste and drainage system and treatment facilities will be updated. They will also install lighting equipment, a perimeter fence, build a patrol road and a rescue station complex.
Arkhangelsk Airport was opened in 1963. At the end of 2022, its passenger traffic amounted to 1.1 million people, 5.8% more than a year earlier.
